Timothy Michel has always lived to serve others. In addition to providing investment advice, income planning strategies, and family estate planning to the clients of Great Lakes Asset Management in his role as Managing Director – Investments, Tim strives to truly connect with each client on the path to achieving their most important goals. His attentive, empathetic approach is borne out of a genuine desire to help those he serves.

Throughout his 30+ year career at Wells Fargo Advisors, Tim developed a reputation for being efficient and decisive when serving the needs of his clients while always maintaining good humor and a kind touch. Unsatisfied by the cookie-cutter nature of the industry, he built Michel Wealth Management as part of Great Lakes Asset Management to truly personalize each client’s plan. A hard worker since the start, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Finance.

Having grown up in Palatine, IL before moving to Sycamore to start a family and build his financial services company, Tim made it a point to serve his community as the President of Kishwaukee College Foundation Board and as well as in the Kishwaukee Rotary Club. To lift up his wife and all those diagnosed with MS, he and his family can regularly be found supporting the MS Society and attending their events. Outside of the office, Tim loves spending time with family, is active in his local Parish, and stays active boating, golfing, and bicycling. When you see him, ask him when he’s next headed to Colorado for a ski trip!

In her role as Senior Client Service Associate, Cathy Newlun is the premier problem solver at Great Lakes Asset Management. Having gained deep proficiencies in almost every aspect of the financial services industry throughout her 30+ year career, Cathy brings comfort, confidence, and kindness when connecting with clients to work towards meeting their financial goals. She’s known for her expansive knowledge, playful sense of humor, frank honesty, and willingness to drill down to answer any and all questions those she serves might have.

Before Great Lakes, Cathy became an expert in helping financial advisors put the puzzle pieces together for their clients at places like Kemper Securities, Everen Securities, First Union Securities, Wachovia Securities, and Wells Fargo Advisors. A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from Kishwaukee College after growing up in Kingston, IL and currently resides in Lindenwood with her husband and family.

Outside of the office, Cathy takes in as much of life as she can. You’ll often find her puttering around the garden, in the crowd at a concert, or on a sightseeing adventure. Spending time with family is her favorite of all, especially enjoying a sporting event like football, basketball, or NASCAR together!
